Nico Baker in Memoriam “CORAZONES ABIERTOS”
Long and ground-breaking years that Nico Baker dedicated to best cinema, bringing in exclusive alternative cinema and projecting what in commercial theaters was rejected as cinearte, was a great time in Sala Garbo. That era returns on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., where we will screen many of films that Nico Baker put before our retinas until his death. This cycle becomes an act of love towards good cinema and also to the person who always offered it: “Nico Baker In Memoriam”.
For Tuesday, February 12, you will have the opportunity to enjoy film “OPEN HEARTS” (Elsker dig for evigt) [+15] by Susanne Bier (Denmark); a deep 2002 film in which a engaged couple, Cècile (Sonja Richter) and Joachim (Nikolaj Lie Kaas), is torn apart after he is paralyzed in an accident. As result, she develops a complicated relationship with husband (Mads Mikkelsen) of woman who caused the accident.
Susane Bier is the only Danish director who has directed two films nominated for “Best Foreign Language Film” at Academy Awards. Winner of a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award, her films often develop themes of global reach, with an intimate approach, explores explosive emotions and complexity of family ties. Her most recent project is Netflix’s thriller “Bird Box”, starring Sandra Bullock.
