Festival Charles Chaplin
On Tuesday, January 14, at 7:00 pm in the Sala Garbo we invite you to enjoy the “Charles Chaplin Festival”, where the most emblematic films of the actor, humorist, composer, producer, screenwriter, director, writer will be shown and english editor.
“Chaplin” became very popular in silent films thanks to the many films he made with his character Charlot.
For this occasion, the film “The Circus” (1928), written by Chaplin and by Joseph Plunkett (prologue, uncredited) will be screened. It became the seventh silent film with the highest collection in film history, with revenues of more than $ 3.8 million in 1928. Thanks to this film, Chaplin won his first Oscar. In his scenes are images that great directors, such as Orson Welles, have used for inspiration.
The film shows the character Charlot chased by a police officer, having been mistaken for a pickpocket. Running to the main tent of a circus in an attempt to escape the law, the owners there confuse their escape as part of an act. As they recognize the potential benefits, Charlot is hired at the circus, although it is soon evident that it cannot be fun on purpose, but only spontaneously.
The films will be screened in their original language, with subtitles in Spanish. For more information, visit the attached links.
