La balada post-futurista de los moluscos
From Friday, 14, to Sunday, February 16, at the Vargas Calvo Theater, 2020 begins with the incredible staging “The post-futuristic ballad of mollusks” by Bryan Vindas, a drama that helps to understand the importance of communication in violence prevention.
This is a winning work of the 2019 Unpublished Dramaturgy National Contest, written by Bryan Vindas, directed by Gladys Alzate and staged by an excellent cast composed of Javier Montenegro, Ana Ulate, María Luisa Garita and Miriam Calderón.
In the plot of this play, Alejandro, an 18-year-old boy, has been hospitalized for three months for a failed suicide attempt. In his coma, and through his interaction with the other characters in the play, he tells us many of the family situations he has lived since childhood, through which we understand the reasons that led him to make this decision.
The work, through a poetic and surreal language, reflects many of the circumstances of intrafamily violence that some Costa Rican homes go through in the present and how these affect the characters emotionally, limiting their life potential. A story that helps us understand the importance of communication in the prevention of violence.
The performances will be Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 5:00 pm. For more information, visit the attached links.
